Liberal myths about Dubya
Though George W. Bush wasn't on the ballot this go 'round, his unpopularity in and of itself may have been enough to ensure a Democrat win in the '08 Presidential race, but Liberal post-election gloating merits a little fact-checking . . . RealClearPolitics -- Facts About the Real Bush Record.

Wow a full throated defense of the White House by a former RNC Chair and current White House counselor. If only he'd have spoken out sooner.
Good point, but the facts are what they are.
And most of that advocacy was falling on deaf ears--it has been a long 8 years for people with a distaste for political conflict or people naive enough to think that full-throated criticism of the President (or a President) was earnest/legitimate.

My opinion - Interesting read, but definately not fair and balanced. His explanations of "Myths 3 & 4" are full of spin and misinformation. If anyone is being labelled a revisionist, this guy takes the cake.
Well, I disagree, Omar. Aside from the indisputable facts he asserts (revisionist history tends to rely on fact-lite characterizations), the whole piece is geared at providing the full picture of what happened during Bush's 8 years.
He demonstrates how Bush was very concerned with "diplomacy" and multi-lateral (if possible) actions. As they say, it's windy at the top, and leadership sometimes involves doing things or advocating for policies that no one else is willing to do. And being tired with war or the GWOT or with Jihadism doesn't make the threat go away. Mark Steyn has written extensively on the challenge of staying focused on this particular enemy.
And as far as the Afghanistan issue, you well know that it was never going to be easy to accomplish our goals there--even though it was a-war-that-Liberals-liked. Regrettably, these countries don't seem to have the moral/ideological infrastructure for a republic.
