(Star Parker: "The unfair rap against Mike Huckabee"): "The Washington Post's David Broder provides one hint about the fuel that might be propelling Huckabee. He says that, according to veteran Democratic pollster Peter Hart, the attributes that are pushing voters' buttons this year are 'transparency, authenticity and unity.'
A just-released The Economist/YouGov poll shows Huckabee doing well in these areas. Republican voters rate him first in both honesty and morality."

"People look at my record and say that I'm as strong on immigration, strong on terror as anybody. In fact I think I'm stronger than most people because I truly understand the nature of the war that we are in with Islamo fascism. These are people that want to kill us. It's a theocratic war. And I don't know if anybody fully understands that. I'm the only guy on that stage with a theology degree. I think I understand it really well. And know the threat of it is absolutely overwhelming to us."
- M. Huckabee
About how much do you suppose the Huckster learned at Ouachita Baptist University in the 1970s about 21st-century fundamentalist Islam? Here's a wild guess: not much. Sounds like 'Bush lite' - if such a level of ignorance is even possible. He's just acknowledged we are in a 'religious' or theocratic war.
Vote Huckabee for an American theocracy. Ned's dream come true.
Oops, I didn't know about that reference to his degree, so I take back (I can't see that I said it here, but I think I've said it somewhere else) any assertion that Huckabee's reference to his degree was simply in the context of interpreting the Bible. Though you don't provide any context for this quotation--when and where did he say it?
That being said, it appears that Huckabee was responding to an assertion that he was "weak" on the nature of Jihadism's threat (I know, I know, you and yours don't think it is a threat . . . humor me on this). In that context, I think it is relevant for Huckabee to assert that he can--based on his academic training, appreciate the seriousness of this religious-based threat. So, some people may think that improved economic conditions in Middle Eastern countries or giving Palestinians their own country or whatever or whatever would satiate these enemies, but an appreciation for the theological aspects of the GWOT is pertinent.
Vote Huckabee just to wig out chaps like William.
More bad news for the Huckster
"More" bad news? Naaah. Retail campaigning is arduous, but I bet 7mill worth of staffing would facilitate more briefings on such things.
